Fashionable Wearable

Android Wear has usually been the domain of tech manufacturers, so having fashion brand Fossil enter the fray was quite the surprise – how would a fashion brand approach wearables? From the Q Marshal, it’s doing quite a good job. Its aesthetic is very similar to a fashionable timepiece, looking like it could fit right in a watch collection. Not too shabby.

Style Over Substance

The Q Marshal does some other things right, and some… not so much. It looks the part, but the bezel and crown do not rotate, with the crown only housing a home button. It rocks the “flat-tire” display from the early days of Android Wear, and the wireless charging connection works very well, killing the need for visible pogo pins, but you’d better not lose the cable.

Wary About Wear

The Q Marshal runs on Android Wear (not 2.0… yet, during the time of this review), limitations and all. Confined to just basic notification mirroring and simple controls, Android Wear isn’t going to win over new converts just yet, unless you’re really into fitness. Even then, the Q Marshal lacks a heart rate sensor. That said, if you’re looking for a fancy wearable, the Q Marshal is it.
Swap it Out

The Q Marshal uses standard 22mm watch straps, so whether it be metal, leather or silicon, swapping straps is a breeze.

Sink and Swim

With IP67 certification, the Q Marshal can withstand the occasional downpour – no need to worry when you’re out and about when wearing it.
