Thanks to the recently concluded Nintendo Direct presentation, we now know more about the games that will be coming out this year on the Nintendo Switch. These games are slated for a release in the first half of 2018 and we for one, are contemplating if we should invest in a Nintendo Switch for the office.
Dark Souls Remastered
Arguably one of the biggest announcements, a fan favourite on both the PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Dark Souls will be remastered and ported over to the Switch. Although not much details have been given out aside from its 25 May 2018 release, this is one game many Switch owners will want to get their hands on.
Dark Souls Remastered will promise improved frame rates and resolution as compared to the original alongside including the Artorias of the Abyss DLC.
PayDay 2
Much like Dark Souls Remastered, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Doom, PayDay 2 will join the the ranks of games that will be porting over to Switch. The game already has a confirmed 27 February 2018 release date along with a new character.
Named Joy, the latest character is a “Japanese computer whiz” who will be made available on the Switch first. Aside from the new character, it has also been confirmed that an online multiplayer mode will be available in the Switch version of PayDay 2.
The World Ends With You: Final Remix

A role-playing game (RPG) that was developed by Square Enix for the Nintendo DS, The World Ends With You: Final Remix is getting a re-release onto the Switch. This re-release will see new content being added to the gym, giving it even more depth than before. It also gives players a chance at choosing between touchscreen or traditional controls.
There has been no confirmation on the exact release date for The World Ends With You: Final Remix but it will be coming out sometime this year.
Kirby Star Allies
Announced back at E3, Kirby Star Allies gets a new trailer, showing off new abilities and powers. Set for a 16 March 2018 release, the new trailer focuses on Kirby’s new abilities like Artist and Spider, which will help you turn the tides in battle. You will also be given the chance to mix and match Kirby’s abilities when playing with friends in the co-op mode.
Mario Tennis Aces
A new Mario Tennis game is currently in the works for Switch with a Spring 2018 release. Mario Tennis Aces is currently being developed by Camelot and will be the first Mario sports game on the Switch. Aces will also carry a story mode in the game, making it the first Mario Tennis game to do so since 2005.
Super Mario Odyssey Update
A follow-up to the ending of Super Mario Odyssey, this latest update takes place right after the game ends. You will be brought to a whole new world where your adventure awaits, this time with Luigi in tow. Mario’s brother will open up the new competitive Balloon World mode, where your objective is to hide balloons as well as discover hidden ones by other players.
There will also be a global leaderboard where you can climb the ranks if you’re that good at hiding and seeking balloons. In addition to the new update, Super Mario Odyssey will feature several new snapshot filters and three new outfits. The update is slated to release in February 2018.
Mario + Rabbids DLC
One of the more popular games to hit the Switch, Mario + Rabbids will be receiving a DLC update. Coming out this Spring 2018, the DLC will feature a new character, Donkey Kong!
Pokken Tournament DX DLC
A literally derivation of Pokemon and Tekken, Pokken Tournament DX is everyone’s favourite Pokemon game, especially if they grew up with it. Featuring a battle system that isn’t seen before in its usual GameBoy system, Pokken Tournament DX also has a new Deluxe Battle Pack paid DLC coming out in two waves.
The first wave comes out this 31 January and will introduce new battle character Aegislash alongside two new supporting characters, Mega Rayquaza and Mimikyu. The second wave will come out on 23 March and will feature Blastoise as a battle character with a support set of Mew and Celebi.]
Of course, if you purchase the DLC now, you will receive a new set of avatar items.
