Sony Mobile announces the Xperia XZ Premium. It features a mean camera, some serious display and really fast download speeds.

A step up from its predecessor, the XZ Premium comes with a 19MP with Motion Eye camera system and 19% larger pixels for low light. It features a memory stacked Exmor RS sensor providing 5 x faster image scanning and data transfer. This allows recording in 960 frames per second, and slo-mo playback four times slower than other smartphones. Predictive Capture automatically starts buffering images when it detects motion before you press the button, letting you choose moments you might have missed while snapping.

A first for smartphones – you get 4K HDR display.

The XZ Premium is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, with integrated Snapdragon X16 LTE modem, meaning its capable of Gigabit Class LTE (up to 1Gbps). File transfers are faster with the USB 3.1 connection, with speed of up to 5Gbps. It comes with USB-C socket.

Like its predecessor, Xperia XZ Premium is water resistant, dust-proof and reinforced with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back of the handset. The battery is maximised with Smart Stamina which estimate how long your current battery will last and prompts you to activate Stamina mode when you’re running low. Battery Care and Qnovo Adaptive Charging are also included to protect your battery and keep it healthy up to twice as long.

Xperia XZ Premium is available globally in in Luminous Chrome and Deepsea Black, from late Spring 2017.
