MPL Malaysia Season 15 Kicks Off With New Teams, New Format And Fresh Rivalries

MOONTON Games and Infinix have announced a year-long partnership for the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia, with Infinix named the Official Gaming Smartphone Partner for 2025.

The collaboration aims to elevate esports in Malaysia by making it more accessible, competitive, and entertaining. MPL Malaysia is supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), Rakan Muda, Esports Integrated (ESI), the Malaysia Esports Federation (MESF), and Persatuan Stadium Malaysia (PSM).

As part of the partnership, Infinix’s GT 20 Pro will be the Official Tournament Phone for MPL Malaysia Season 15. The GT 20 Pro features dual-chip technology, a high refresh rate display, and an advanced cooling system. This agreement is part of a broader regional partnership spanning professional Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) tournaments across five Southeast Asian countries.

“Our partnership with MOONTON Games is a huge step in our goal to shape the future of esports in Malaysia, and furthers our commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology, bringing innovation to mobile gaming, and ensuring that our esports players and fans alike have access to the best gaming technology,” said Wai Kiat Hong, Marketing Director of Infinix Malaysia.

Siew Hao Zhen, Head of Esports (MY and SEA Incubation) at MOONTON Games, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Infinix into MPL Malaysia, Malaysia’s biggest mobile esports ecosystem. MPL Malaysia is committed to fostering innovation and excellence in mobile gaming—values that dovetail with Infinix’s strategy of delivering cutting-edge technology to empower gamers. We’re excited to push the boundaries of mobile esports together.”

Season 15 of MPL Malaysia will take place at Stadium Juara. The league has introduced a new brand proposition, “Pentas Kebanggaan,” which aims to serve as a platform for local talent to rise and bring glory to the country. This season will also see changes in team line-ups, with Selangor Red Giants partnering with European esports organisation OG Esports and competing as Selangor Red Giants OG Esports (SRG). Red Esports has been rebranded as Aero, while two new teams, Ocean Black and DX Soul, have been promoted from the MLBB Academy League Malaysia (MALMY).

The Regular Season will run from 19 April to 25 May, featuring 10 teams competing in a single round-robin Best-of-Three format. The season opener will be a rematch of last season’s Grand Finals between SRG and Team Vamos. The top six teams will advance to the Playoffs, which will take place in two phases—Phase One from 30 to 31 May and Phase Two from 14 to 15 June.

“We revised the Playoffs format as an experiment—to further improve the fan experience. In previous seasons, the Playoffs would take place from Thursday to Sunday; this has led to some fans not being able to attend the weekday matches due to commitments such as school and work. We believe the new format aligns more closely to our league’s brand of being an inclusive and family-friendly community,” said Hao Zhen.

MPL Malaysia also announced plans to launch an official merchandise line, a first for the league. The announcements were made during the “Infinix Iftar Night 2025: Powering the Future with MPL Malaysia” media event at Royal Bedouin restaurant in Sri Hartamas.
