Everyone knows about the Samsung Dex by now – a device that connects your phone to your desktop, allowing you to work seamlessly through your phone on a bigger screen.
And this idea is great – except you’re tied to the brand. A few companies are working on notebook formats that work with Windows 10 mobile devices, like HP’s Lap Dock that works with its Elite x3 smartphone and the NexDock.
Now if you thought the Mirabook by French startup Miraxess is just another version – you’re slightly wrong. Sure, fundamentally it works similarly – connecting your phone to a laptop. However, what is different is the support for different convergence solutions, including:
- Samsung DeX
- Oxi OS
- Leena OS
- Maru OS
- Remix Singularity
- Windows 10 Mobile Continuum
- PC sticks
- Raspberry Pi
Hardware wise, Digital Trends reported that “the Mirabook is an aluminium-finished clamshell with a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution 13.3-inch IPS display, full-size keyboard and touchpad, and extra storage and battery life that plugs into one of the supported platforms to provide a bona fide notebook experience. Connectivity is provided by USB Type-C for input and charging, and USB Type-C, HDMI, USB Type-A, and audio jack connections provide for flexible output.”
