Microsoft recently announced its Translator app will be given new updates so that it can now operate even if the phone is not connected to the internet. Regrettably, it only works for Android and Apple users.
The new function should prove to be helpful to users who travel the world and do not have roaming data services available to them. Before your trip, make sure you download the free translation pack for your easy convenience. Currently, there are nine language packs available, which include: Chinese, Italian, Russian and Spanish. Microsoft is said to expand the current lineup so it will be accessible to anyone in the world.
iOS users on the other hand, will have access to Microsoft’s Optical Character Recognition(OCR) engine. OCR is the same software that has been used in Windows phones since 2010. The system supports 50 languages for voice and text input.
Microsoft is still working on its features so that users are able to access its translator on any smartphone platform in the future.
