A few Microsoft services were down for a few hours. The outage affected Outlook.com, the Office 365 online software, Xbox Live gaming service and Skype across Western Europe and the Eastern United States.
The outage started last night just before 7 pm Malaysian time. The issue was reported on Office 365 tech support page, noting that some Outlook.com users were prevented from gaining access to their mailboxes.
According to Reuters report, the error page noted that the tech support page stated “We’re investigating an issue in which some users may be unable to access or use Outlook.com services or feature.” The current status as we’ve last checked said “Everything is up and running.”
According to Reuters, “XBox Live’s Status site said access to services remained limited as of 1355 GMT (9.55 pm MYT), but Skype’s status site said that issues users were having signing in to Skype with their Microsoft accounts had been fully resolved in a posting at 1420 GMT (10.20 pm MYT).
Outlook.com complaints numbering in the thousands at online outage reporting site DownDetector.com peaked around 1400 GMT (10.00 pm MYT). On Twitter, the hashtag #hotmail was trending in the early afternoon in Britain as users complained of being locked out.”
So far there are no reports about any services outage or problems in these region during the noted duration when the service went down. Most of the services were largely restored by midnight Malaysian Time.
