MDeC Projects RM200 Million For MyCybersale This Year

mycebersaleonlineMDEC announced the return the country’s biggest online sale event MyCybersale 2016, for the third year running. This year the agency is targeting a 100% sales increase after successfully organising previous editions to achieve RM 200 million in sales. The event will be held over the period of five days starting 26th September 2016.

With over 600 merchants highest number of vendors to take part, the event has gone into the Malaysian Book Records for the ‘Most participating online merchants in an online sale event’. The event will see participation from major international brands such as UNIQLO, Giordano, Kinokuniya, Levi’s and Dell amongst many others.

Dato’ Yasmin Mahmood, CEO of MDEC said, “e-Commerce in Malaysia is projected to contribute at least RM 170 billion to the GDP by 2020. Given the growth potential, it is recognised as one of the key enablers for the country’s economic growth,”

The online event 2015 recorded RM 117.7mil in gross merchandise volume , a leap from 75% increase from 2014 which shows the extend of popularity of online shopping is shaping up in the country. For the very first time there will also be four Malaysian airlines participating, Malaysia Airlines, FireFly, Air Asia, Malindo with even pharmaceutical companies joining the activity. Payment methods are offered by various parties including Mol Wallet, MPay, MolCash via 7-Eleven and half-mile delivery by PostCo, PopBox and InPost.
