Under the fourth phase of the movement control order (MCO) which begins today, there’s now updated regulations which eased some of the restrictions.
This relates to the ability to go buy goods and essentials or to seek medical services, as now under Phase 4 of the MCO, two family members are allowed to go to these premises.
This is according a new federal gazette on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Disease (Measures Within Infected Local Areas (No. 4) Regulations 2020, which is in effect from April 29 until May 12.
The published gazette does add that the companion must be a family member from the same residence.
Under Section 4(1)(a)(ii) of the updated regulations, it states that anyone moving in an infected area to buy necessities “may be accompanied by one family member staying in the same house”.
However, the 10km-radius limit to buy food and essentials is still in effect. It also states that any travel beyond that distance to a place nearest to one’s residence is allowed if such food, medicine, dietary supplement, medical services or other goods and necessities are not available.
The MCO was extended on April 23, starting from April 29 – May 12 after the end of Phase 3 on April 28.
