Maxis Records Profit Rise But Continues Customer Loss

Maxis has been hard at work in building the business in all aspects, from infrastructure, service to consumer perception. The labour put in by CEO Morten and his team has proven to be a success, just a year back the operator reported slide in revenue and loss of massive customers but the latest financial report shows much improvement.

Recording a good quarter ending December, Maxis recorded a total RM2 billion in profits for 2016 an increase from previous year of RM1.7 billion. The telco also managed to add new customers to its network with both postpaid and prepaid seeing an uptake, attributing to new Maxis OnePlan and Hotlink Fast Pack. However overall base dropped from 2015 and now stood at 10,851,000 with 800,000 leaving the telco, of the current base the bulk are held by prepaid 7,946,000 and 2,712,000 for postpaid and 193,000 on wireless broadband which also dropped by nearly 50%. Average revenue per unit for Maxis OnePlan saw an increase to a healthy RM127 per month meanwhile prepaid was at RM47 for the Hotlink Fast Pack package.

Noticeably the loss will not impact Maxis much, with having one of the highest ARPU in the industry an envy of many, the telco can ride high after being declared by MCMC of having the the best network coverage and speeds in the country. Its only a matter of time before these users return to its network.
