The above teaser released has been pasted across tons of media websites by now, even local blog sites have picked up and the timing Huawei chose happens to coincide with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 launch.
While we can see the obvious on the Galaxy moniker a staple used for the flagship series in the Korean manufacturers arsenal, does Huawei actually has what it takes to offer its Mate 10 and go beyond the Note 8? What we know so far about the next flagship from the Chinese is the incorporation of artificial intelligence into the device touted to learn the users daily activities, learning and improving much like a personal assistant akin to Siri or Alexa. Camera will be a focus, after shaping the industry with a dual rear camera courtesy of Leica, the Mate 10 has a tall order upping the ante, apart from higher megapixel or adding telephoto capability, it will be interesting to see what Huawei has up its sleeves.
Lets assume the Mate 10 has all the bells and whistles that its rumoured to be, it still wont be able to upseat the Note 8 in many aspects. Samsung held nothing back on the flagship evident during the launch announcement, Snapdragon 835, superb display, quality camera and an intuitive S Pen that’s come of age. If the target is Galaxy S8, even then its going to be tough, Huawei has gained the experience nor the know-how to go beyond just hardware and fancy components to take on the likes of Samsung or Apple yet! But if there’s anything we have learnt over the years about Chinese company’s with horde of cash and unwavering desire to be world number one, they will bu themselves into that position.
For now we shall look forward to October 16 when Huawei lifts the veil on the Mate 10 after the big event the whole world will be anticipating next month.
