Malaysia Is The First Overseas Market To Get The HUAWEI MateBook D 15 Laptop; Starts At RM2499

HUAWEI Consumer Business Group (CBG) today announced that its new HUAWEI MateBook D 15 laptop will hit Malaysian shores beginning 18 January. Malaysia is the first market outside of China to introduce the 15.6-inch HUAWEI laptop which has been pretty popular with high ratings in China since the launch in October 2019.

The HUAWEI MateBook D 15 comes with a cross-platform integration which makes it easier to work with multiple devices through a single pane of glass. It also comes with previous iterations of the MateBook’s aesthetic design, tech, and smart experience. It comes with a lightweight chassis, a 15.6″ FullView display, and a solid build quality and design.

The Display

In line with the rest of the HUAWEI MateBook family, the HUAWEI MateBook D 15 comes with a FullView display. It measures in at 5.mm thin and has some pretty thin bezels, resulting in an 87% screen-to-body ratio. Because of the focus on smaller bezels and optimising the screens size, it makes for a smaller form factor. With dimensions measuring at just 357.8×229.9×16.9mm, that’s considered pretty thin for a 15.6″ laptop.

Underneath the anti-glare coating, the 15.6-inch 16:9 IPS panel supports a Full HD (1920×1080) resolution and a maximum opening angle of 178 degrees. The panel on the HUAWEI MateBook D 15 has also been TÜV Rheinland certified for low blue light emission, allowing for better eye protection.

The Internals

HUAWEI MateBook D 15 AMD Edition is powered by a 12nm AMD Ryzen 5 3500U mobile processor to deliver  powerful performance. For their GPU, the AMD Radeon Vega 8 Graphics is embedded in the laptop to provide graphics processing support. And for some reason, it also includes something called the ‘Shark Fin Fan’. This is essentially HUAWEI’s new s-shaped fan blades, and HUAWEI Shark Fin Fan 2.0 optimises air flow for better cooling.

It charges with a multi-purpose 65W USB-C charger, which you can actually use with other HUAWEI smartphones and tablets. It features overheat protection, so that helps by automatically stopping the charging once the temperature crosses a certain threshold.

Lastly, it comes with up to 16GB of dual-channel DDR4 memory and a solid-state drive (SSD) in the new HUAWEI MateBook D 15 is connected to the mainboard via the high speed PCIe interface. But if that wasn’t your speed, you’re given a choice for two storage configuration options. It can come with an SSD, or a combo of SSD and hard disk.

Pricing and Availability

The HUAWEI MateBook D15 will retail at RM2,499. It is available in Mystic Silver with the following standard configuration of 8GB of RAM, 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD. It also offers 3 USB ports (1x USB 3.0 and 2x USB 2.0), a 3.5mm headset jack, and a HDMI port.
