With a tag line “Power without the Tower”, HP sets new industry standards for workstations by unveiling the world first all-in-one workstation with a 27” diagonal display, designed to function as a fully functional server or desktop. The Z1 packs a sleek industrial design with accelerated performance with the help of the Intel Xeon processors, graphics by NVIDIA Graphics, which is expandable to higher end series.
The unique form of the Z1 would undeniably be the fact that the display snaps open and shows the innards in all its glory. The tool-less chassis allows users to easily add hard drive, upgrade memory or access the graphic card without any tools! Designed as a space saver and partners’ comments in mind, the engineers at HP went the extra mile to design the Z1, a daunting task indeed, in ensuring performance and reliability is not compromised.
The system is built for the computer-aided design field for fast rendering capabilities; we would probably see it being used by CAD Autodesk users, mechanical engineers, architects, civil/structural engineers, media and entertainment, education sector to name a few.
Unique to the Z1 is the capability it offers in a small footprint for your work needs. With options to be fitted with various Intel processors in the Core family – from the i3 all the way to Xeon processors – you are only limited by your imagination on how to equip this compact workstation. For storage purposes, you can either put in a large hard drive, a fast platter hard drive or even a SSD drive to speed up your work performance at your desk. All of this can be equipped in the three drive bays inside the chassis – two 2.5” drives and one 3.5” drives in total.
As it is a workstation, the graphics option is also limitless. You have multiple options to kit this machine for your needs. You can put in graphics all the way to NVIDIA Quadro Q4000 graphics card, using the full 16x PCIe slot to help in your rendering needs in outputting complex CAD files for your customers. This is assisted by the large 27” screen, which outputs up t0 2560 x 1440 pixels, and it is powered by a IPS technology display that ensures perfect colour rendition all around. It also supports up to 1.07 billion colours, ensuring perfect colour all the time, every time.
As if this is not enough, you can also add another display through the built-in DisplayPort to expand your working area, and productivity. Apart from this, you can have options for a Blu-ray Drive and up to 32GB of ECC RAM.
Of course you would need to connect all of your peripherals, and the Z1 is fully equipped to enable that – with 11 USB ports located all around the chassis – you cannot say that you do not have a port to plug your peripherals again.
The new HP Z1 Workstation is expected to be available worldwide in April and pricing starts at US$1,899 in the United States (about RM5,800).
