Star Wars fan have been playing imaginary light saber fight since first seeing on the silver screen in scene when Luke Skywalker duel Dart Vader on the Imperial Star Destroyer using the blue and red emitting sabers. Ever since then, every kid and now grown adults have been fascinated with the Jedi’s choice of weapon and wanted one for himself, however finding a professionally crafted model is hard to come by.
Steps in SaberForge an American Toy and Game startup will now like to give fans a chance to build and make their own Saber, using Adaptive Saber Parts (ASP) a modular system that lets anyone construct their very own movie quality custom saber. A crowd funded project on Indiegogo, the ASP allows you to make your very own custom saber, without you knowing anything about manufacturing, design or soldering.
The guys at the company have designed a three dimensional virtual saber builder that allows you to create and modify your custom saber in a digital saber workshop, the initial release will offer over two hundred unique metal parts in three different finishes making available millions of different design configurations for selection and every month will release new expansion set.
In addition there will also be a “plug and play” no solder electronics kits for upgrading the custom saber hilt to a dueling saber with a light up blade, or a fully functional hero level prop with lights, motion detection, and sound.
According to the sites update, the prototype runs have finished and with the electronics part of the project completed and ready. The now seek funding, for a large scale commercial machine shop so that they can keep prices down and eliminate lead time. If you like what you see SaberForge is doing, than the asking pledge for $150 you can get the hilt and for $225 includes the LED Blade and both comes with a belt clip and a saber stand. There is also a $2500 pledge which turns you into a Saber smith, making Sabers for friends and family, the kit has 10 sets of each Saber.
Rated ‘InDemand’ the project has already raised over a million dollars and expects to start delivery in February next year with worldwide shipping on the cards. However, do take note this is not an official Star Wars merchandise and has got no association with the brand or movie.
