We reported LG announcing the entry to robot making that will be soon in homes and lawns eliminating the need for maids and grass cutters on bicycles, the Korean technology and consumer electronics giant showcased the Hub Robot and lawn mowing robot at CES taking advantage of the power of IOT and smart technology. These droids resembling those seen in Star Wars movies, running around and cleaning up can now be soon seen for the first time used in public spaces.
The Hub Robot uses Amazon Alexa’s voice recognition technology to complete tasks such as turning on the air conditioner or increasing the clothes drying cycle with verbal commands. Its equipped with a large interactive display thats able to provide information such as pictures of the inside of the refrigerator or visual images of how to prepare a dish to accompany the step-by-step audio recipe instructions. And accessing Alexa’s expansive database makes the robot do everything Alexa can do, like play music, set alarms, create reminder memos and provide weather and traffic updates.
In order to make the experince as natural as possible, LG equipped sensors enabling it interact in various ways responding to body language such as nodding its head to respond to simple questions and aware of movements inside the home, scary at first but something to get used to, like a pet. The Airport Guide Robot can soon to be seen at Korea’s Incheon International Airport will be an intelligent information assistant for travelers, answering questions in up to four languages: English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. By scanning the passenger’s ticket, the robot can provide detailed information about the boarding time, gate location and even the weather of the destination city. It can also offers directions to destinations inside the airport along.
Cleaner Robots
LG has even introduced airport cleaning robots that’s basically a super-sized vacuum equipped with large-capacity dust canisters with brushes and motors. The unit is capable of cleaning tiles, carpet floors, and just like in that movie, navigate around without stumbling into people.
And with the Lawn Mowing Robot it can employ a fast-moving blade that can keep the garden trimmed and proper, uses the same features as the cleaner robot that can navigate around trees and obstacles at ease. All these were on display at CES and will soon be fully commercial.
