One of the oldest online shopping sites in Malaysia is celebrating their birthday, and to celebrate the occasion, they are sharing goodies with their customers and fans. Lazada, started in 2012, is celebrating their 5th birthday by running a special sale that is happening from the 22nd until 24th of March 2017. This is part of the company’s plans to catalyse growth by empowering businesses to collaborate as ecosystem partners.
“Our first five years was about building the fundamentals of e-commerce, the next five years will be transforming into a self-sustaining platform empowering entrepreneurs to serve the needs of Malaysians better. With the increasing sophistication of consumers, Lazada endeavours to provide Malaysians business the tools and services required to create a more engaging customer experience, thus, accelerating their business growth,” said Hans-Peter Ressel, CEO of Lazada Malaysia.
E-commerce is already making up 5.8% of the Malaysian GDP as of January 2017, and it is expected to grow 24% per year by 2022. This growth will be fuelled by the millennial generation, who are embracing the online shopping experience.
The sale will involve more than one million products across 15 categories, with brands supporting this sales including Huawei, L’Oreal, Microsoft, Tesco and Levi’s among others. Other events happening includes RM1 flash sales, buy 1 free 1 sales and free shipping for sales.
At the same time, Lazada is also investing in companies that help equip sellers with world-class logistics to send out products to customers without delay.
