Global apparel retailer UNIQLO today announces the appointment of artist Kosuke Kawamura as Creative Director for UT, the UNIQLO graphic T-shirt brand launched in 2003 that is marking its 20th anniversary. Kawamura is deeply knowledgeable about many types of pop culture, applying his distinctively original style to a broad range of fields. He now brings his experience and keen artistic sense to UT, to deliver LifeWear that builds on the idea of “Wear Your World” to express the individuality of the wearer, and provides opportunities to encounter new types of culture.
Kosuke Kawamura commented, “I am delighted to have been appointed Creative Director for UT. By offering T-shirts presenting culture from many different genres, I want to make the brand a gateway for people to encounter something they hadn’t known about before and provide an opportunity to expand people’s knowledge. I also plan to reach out to young artists in Japan and around the world, and make UT a platform for the next generation of artists.”
About Kosuke Kawamura
Kosuke Kawamura is a collage artist, graphic designer, and art director. As a graphic designer he has provided graphics for numerous apparel brands and created collaboration T-shirts. He has also been involved with design and direction for fliers for live performances and events, DVD and CD jackets, book covers, and advertisements. He first worked with UT in 2019 as a collaborator, creating collages for the Dragon Ball UT collection.
