Kingston Reveals 3D NAND UV500 SSD With 256-bit AES Encryption

Multinational manufacturer of memory-related products, Kingston, announces the UV500 family line of SSD products. An interesting thing about the UV500 SSD is that it will be Kingston’s first 3D NAND-enabled SSD featuring hardware-based encryption.

The UV500 packs a Marvell 88SS1074 controller inside. Performance-wise, it delivers read and write speeds of up to 520MB/s and 500MB/s. A 256-bit AES encryption helps protect sensitive data using TCG Opal 2.0’s technology. Kingston’s UV500 also comes in the 2.5″, M.2 2280, and mSATA form factors to be compatible with any system. Furthermore, it is available at 120GB, 240GB, 480GB, 960GB and 1920GB capacities.

The UV500 SSD targets both consumers and enterprise users looking for a performance boost. More importantly though, the inclusion of hardware-based encryption ensures data security without having to hamper performance.

Kingston is backing the the UV500 with a limited five-year warranty.
