‘Kill Switch’ Implemented For Coldplay Concert At Bukit Jalil National Stadium Tonight

In a move to ensure heightened security and adherence to official guidelines, the implementation of a ‘kill switch’ has been confirmed for the highly-anticipated Coldplay concert scheduled at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium tonight. Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced this safety measure, emphasizing its capability to cut off electricity during any performance in the event of an unwanted incident.

Discussions between the Central Agency for Application for Filming and Performance by Foreign Artistes (Puspal) and the concert organizer have been described as positive, according to Fahmi Fadzil. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed support for the band’s solidarity with Palestine, adding a layer of significance to the concert.

“We are optimistic about the concert today,” Fahmi stated during a press briefing at the Digital Transformation Leader’s CxO Summit on Intelligent Digital Transformation in the 5G Era.

The ‘kill switch’ function is designed to promptly halt any concert that violates official guidelines, ensuring immediate compliance. This measure aims to prevent the occurrence of incidents that could jeopardize public safety or disrupt the orderly conduct of the event.

To facilitate smoother traffic flow, Fahmi Fadzil also recommended that the public utilize public transportation, which will operate until late tonight. The extended operation hours align with efforts to enhance accessibility and ease the congestion expected with a large crowd attending the concert.

Concerns had been raised by various parties regarding the concert, with calls to cancel it out of respect for the current situation in Gaza, Palestine. There were also apprehensions about a potential recurrence of an inappropriate incident similar to the one involving the pop rock group The 1975 in July.

The British band Coldplay’s concert in Bukit Jalil is a significant event within its Music of the Spheres World Tour. The implementation of the ‘kill switch’ underscores the commitment to safety and adherence to guidelines, aiming to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for all concert-goers.
