Remember the good ol days of Malaysian political turmoil, backstabbing, backdoor governments and pandemic-free worries? Well, it looks like the stage has been set for season 2 of Permainan Takhta.
It has just been announced that the Dewan Rakyat has accepted Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s motion to hold a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
“The motion under Rules of Meeting 27(3) has been accepted to be brought to the Dewan Rakyat session in the future,” wrote Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusoff. Its worth noting however that while a ‘season 2’ has been announced, it’s release date hasn’t.
Mohamad Ariff’s statement published on Bernama’s Facebook page had no mention of when exactly the motion will be put to the table. This has increased speculation that it might not even happen during the single day meeting on the 18th of May.
Whatever it is, it looks like we may not have to wait for the government to get on top of the coronavirus pandemic to see politicians being put back in the spotlight. To be fair though, I think we all knew this would happen sooner or later. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as this story unfolds.
