iPhone sales has dropped, according to recent release of their financial results.
Numbers showed that Apple sold 50.76 million iPhones in its fiscal second quarter ended April 1, down from 51.19 million a year earlier. Analysts on average had estimated iPhone sales of 52.27 million, Reuters reported.
Despite the dip in unit sales, iPhone revenues rose 1.2 percent in the quarter, probably thanks to the higher average selling price.
Speculations to the dip in sales is due to expectations building ahead of the rumoured 10th-anniversary iPhone range later this year, causing many customers to hold back in anticipation of the latest handset. However that hasn’t stopped shares of the company from falling.
The rumour mill for Apple’s 10th-anniversary iPhone range include features such as wireless charging, 3-D facial recognition and a curved display.
It also looks like Apple is losing ground rapidly in Greater China, falling 14.1 percent to $10.73 billion in the quarter, as homegrown rivals Huawei, Oppo and Vivo sweeps in with cheaper handsets.
