Huawei is taking the 5G commercial trial to Korea, this time in upscale district of Gangnam supported with local telecommunication provider LG U+. The network were tested on both 3.5 GHz and 28 GHz base stations, which helped to verify technologies like IPTV 4K Video upcoming requirement for 5G service.

During the test, the engineers were able to receive average data rates of 1 Gbps over the low band and more than 5 Gbps for dual connectivity over high and low bands. Using a 5G tour bus equipped with IPTV 4K, and a VR drone, the team was able to demonstrated high data transfer and send information back to LG U+ headquarters, which required data rates ranging from 20 Mbps to 100 Mbps. Huawei aims to lead the next generation mobile connectivity and is active in deploying trial based scenarios. European counterparts like Ericsson and Nokia have also been testing 5G, with possible delivery date for the technology as early as 2018.

Higher data transfer over wireless connectivity is being regarded as the next digital revolution when internet of things, autonomous vehicles, industrial 4.0 and cloud will all require stronger bandwidth which 5G is said to deliver.
