You’ve seen it coming. Honor 9 smartphone is here to give a refresh to its predecessor.

The Honor 9 brings a few key upgrades, including a larger capacity battery, larger camera sensors, more RAM, and more storage.

The metal-body smartphone features a 5.15-inch 1,080p display with DCI-P3 color space (also used on the iPhone 7 and Galaxy S8). Runs Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 on top, powered by the Kirin 960, the same chip you get with Huawei’s flagship Mate 9 and P10.

Packed with a slightly larger 3,200mAh battery, it comes with a huge 6GB RAM with either 64GB or 128GB storage.

On the camera side it follows the footstep of the Mate 9’s 20-megapixel and 12-megapixel dual cameras on the rear and features 2x optical zoom, portrait and bokeh modes. It also has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

The phone will support Huawei’s recently announced Huawei Pay mobile payments platform.

The phone’s metal body has a glass back and will come in Seagull Grey, Charm Sea Blue and Amber Gold.

The Huawei Honor 9 will be available on June 16 (this Friday) at Vmall, JD and six other Chinese retailers. You’re looking at CNY 2,700 (approx RM 1700) for the 64GB model and CNY 3,000 (approx RM 1890) for the 128GB one.
