Huawei has been living on borrowed time for a while now, and now even less so. With their latest flagship, the Mate 30 being launched and it not having ‘official’ Android and the Google suite, Huawei are already feeling the effects of the ‘ban’. Their latest reprieve is still in effect until November 19th, and there’s likely not going to be a third, according from a report from Bloomberg. The report cites Rob Strayer, the U.S. State Department’s deputy assistant secretary for cyber policy.

He said such ‘temporary general licenses’ “don’t often last forever”.

“They’re designed to provide some immediate relief and to prevent immediate disruption to the market.” said Rob Strayer.

And that’s not all folks! After talking about the Huawei ban reprieve, he also mentions that the U.S. might also impose punishments to allies still using Huawei tech.

“Additional punishments for allies that refuse to ban Huawei equipment in 5G networks, in addition to potentially cutting them off from intelligence-sharing agreements“, Bloomberg reports.

No idea what that means really, or what the punishments could be, but it’s not a great indicator for Huawei. However, this does seem REALLY unfair towards Huawei, because to my knowledge, these claims are still unsubstantiated. There’s nothing to prove it, and that’s what really sucks. But let’s see how Huawei gets out of this one, but one thing’s for sure. Don’t get the Mate 30 WITHOUT ANDROID OR GOOGLE. It’s not worth it, regardless of how impressive the hardware.
