Huawei quietly added a new tablet to its MediaPad range. The Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite features a 10.1-inch screen, four speakers and last year’s mikd-tier Kirin SoC.

Underneath the all-aluminium build, the MediaPad M5 Lite sports a Kirin 659 SoC with memory in either 3GB/32GB or 4GB/64GB variants. It looks like your bog-standard tablet, but the four Harmon Kardon tuned speakers stands out, making it a great multimedia consumption device.

Working with Huawei’s Histen 5.0 system, the speakers gives a 3D surround-sound effect out of the box. This means your view will sound like the makers intend it to be, with directional audio cues when video is played back. There is an optional stylus that supports up to 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity – perfect for drawing on the large screen.

Powering everything is a big 7500mAh battery, which should give it enough juice to run the whole day. Huawei elected to ship the tablet with Android 8.0 and EMUI 8.0 out of the box; no hints if the tablet will be in line to receive the Android 9 Pie and EMUI 9.0 update when it comes out.

No price has been announced for the Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite, but it will be available in Champagne Gold and Space Grey as colour options.
