Huawei Has Lost 15% Of Their Market Share Since Their Last Two Quarters In Malaysia

With the smartphone market still facing a global economic downturn, it’s no wonder that there’s lesser growth than before. Some are feeling the effects more than others, and of course, that’d be Huawei. Others seem to have benefited from this, as Samsung remains at the top with 32% and OPPO staying at the second spot with 19% shares, and a 22% Year over Year (YoY) growth rate.

This is still on par with a previous analysis that we covered in Q2, so it’s not really surprising. It’s basically the same, but Huawei seems to stuck at 12% for the past two quarters. While they’re spewing on an on about their killer year in spite of the blacklist from the U.S. and missing Google features, it seems they haven’t really grown all too much in Malaysia as well.

I’m sure the ban has had more of an effect than anticipated or they’re showing, but it’s awfully apparent here. Even their latest Huawei Mate 30 series seems not to have been able to bolster their sales, which isn’t all that surprising. Hopefully we’ll see someone else on top other than Samsung next quarter, but let’s be honest, that’s not very likely, is it?
