Even Asian message services like WeChat and Line have grown to phenomenal levels with quick adoption and have now expanded their services to payment and commerce.

Now with Android Messages and RCS messaging a service that will enhance text messaging (SMS) to be more rich with being able to offer most services offered by the apps, Google is looking capture some of the market back. Having already signed on operators to offer the services in Europe and South America, Huawei will be the first Android device manufacturer to offer the services across all its smartphone portfolio by integrating the services.

With Android Messages and RCS messaging, Huawei devices can now offer richer native messaging with features such as texting over Wi-Fi, rich media sharing, group chats, and typing indicators all over the solutions.  And users will be able to make video calls directly from Android Messages through carrier ViLTE and Google DUO.

Expect to see the services rolled across the devices in coming months.
