HP is elevating the status for its gaming notebook by introducing the first of its kind dual scree gaming notebook that aspires to quell the multitasking nature of gamers who do more than just gaming on their PC’s.

Gaming industry insights show 82% of people use their mobile phones for messaging during gaming sessions, while 61% listen to music and 49% watch game-related live streams, view video content and browse websites. With this in mind, HP created the first dual-screen gaming laptop with the Omen X 2S.

With the rather peculiar looking keyboard area (yes we were also looking for the second screen, and no its not behind the main display) the secondary 6-inch panel offers users constant access to social media apps like WeChat and WhatsApp, or browse through Spotify, watch Twitch and YouTube while playing their favourite eSports. A useful addition considering most players get completely immersed often neglecting what could be a potential important message sent to them.

Apart from substituting a phone, the real-time screen mirroring feature further bolsters the OMEN X 2S, by cutting and magnifying parts of the main screen – such as copying the map portion of a racing game – to the second screen, ensuring centered vision and more vertical head movement. A provisional advantage for those that do not have such a feature.

This powerhouse also has a lot going on under its 20 mm-thin, full-metal chassis hood: as HP claims, it’s the first 15-inch diagonal gaming laptop in the world to come with an applied liquid metal compound to the thermal system by way of Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut. The result is heat dissipation at 10 times the thermal conductivity of silicon thermal grease up to a 28% frames-per-second (FPS) performance boost over traditional grease when testing in Apex Legends, and an 8.5% faster lead time in a Blender Benchmark test.

The OMEN X 2S was one of several gaming innovations unveiled recently at the HP Gaming Festival in Beijing.
