Printing, and lawyers often go hand in hand without people realising it. The amount of paperwork they have to print, corrections, and such are an important part of legal proceedings. Having a reliable, small, cost efficient printer is a must, and lawyers at Law Firm Darshan Chong & Co can attest to that. To check out how exactly the Epson Monochrome M1120 Printer performed in that environment, we sought out to question these lawyers how the experience was.

1. Could you share with us on your regular use of the office printer you have?

I use it almost every other day, as a law firm, we have to keep our files and such updated. The amount of printing is quite heavy, and therefore we sort of rely on the process. The printer was reliable, and therefore we were comfortable enough that it would handle our workload and documents. The convenience factor also played a part in why we used the printer as often as we did.

2. What kind of work do you use your current printer for?

I use it for simple and straightforward document printing in black and white. While it is simple, the amount of printing needed per day, is also quite large. Considering that with each amendment made, needs to be printer all over. Printing remotely makes it simple, using WiFi printing as well as Email printing. It makes the process much easier than if I had to connect with a wire. Being able to print from anywhere in the office, with the Epson iPrint mobile app was also simple, but I noticed the printing was slower.

3. Having used the Epson EcoTank M1130 Monochrome printer, what are the differences you find on this model?

Printing is clear and smooth. There is a difference, in terms of colour reproduction, as well as speed. The time it took to print a 100 page document, was quite fast. I think it was related to the printer having only black ink? Not really sure on the exact specifics, but performance was fast for sure. I think it took about 3-4 minutes to print about 100 pages full of text. Pretty good, for the amount of printing we used it for. Besides the speed, I think the print quality was equivalent to a laser-jet printer which was surprising, but I now definitely prefer this Epson printer.

4. Kindly let us know about the quality of prints, speed and ease of use.

Print and speed are good. Quite fast. Easy to set up and use. No issues. There were even times where we accidentally spilled some water on the paper, but the ink didn’t run. The prints were clear, full, and we couldn’t find any issues with the printer itself. There is a draft mode, which we didn’t think would be useful. However, because it prints in a lower quality, we managed to save even more ink. We used this when we wanted a physical copy of a document, but knew we needed to make changes.

With the lack of a display, it did make some things confusing at times, but after we learnt exactly how to use the printer, we were experts. The combo presses for functions made it simple, and kind of interesting. Haven’t used something like that before.

5. What are features you like and those you find you don’t?

Everything is good, no problems thus far. I didn’t need to use the all the features, such as wireless printing via the software. Email, and WiFi printing was enough for me, and therefore I kept to that. Besides that, refilling the ink is pretty straight forward which requires you to lift the blue cover of the ink tank. Being a bottle system, instead of a cartridge I feel makes it better, especially with the little window on the side which shows you just how much more ink is available in the printer. This makes it convenient, and not have to check on the computer or the display to see how much ink is left. I can just check it physically, which I personally prefer.

6. Epson takes pride in the small design of the printer, do you find the model
saving space in the office? If yes do share about this attribution.

Yes, the small size is good. Fits nicely on the side of my table. Even the black and white accents of the printer model makes it look suitable in a professional setting. With such a small footprint, no unnecessary space is wasted when placing this printer anywhere in an office. The foldable cover and retractable tray opens up just enough to hold the papers for print also without taking up too much space. So overall, it’s small form factor was convenient for smaller spaces, and that was something that really set the Epson Monochrome apart.
