HEINEKEN, Sokong Collaborate To Spread Festive Joy Through Community Impact

Heineken Malaysia Berhad (HEINEKEN Malaysia) and Sokong by Malaysiakini are collaborating in an effort to launch HEINEKEN Cares 2023, a community impact initiative designed to fortify community resilience amid increasing social and economic challenges.

In partnership with six NGOs and social enterprises, HEINEKEN Cares 2023 aims to address food security, community farming, and access to clean water and renewable electricity.

The selected partner organizations are Hopes Malaysia, Hope Place Kuching, Soroptimist International Region of Malaysia, Ferris Wheel Organisation, SOLS Energy, and Yellow House KL.

To coincide with the festive season in December, HEINEKEN Cares 2023 is inviting the public to contribute to the projects initiated by these organizations.

For every RM10 donated, HEINEKEN Cares will match it with an additional RM40, resulting in a total value of RM50. The fundraising campaign will cease once the total funding target for the six projects is reached.

Managing Director of HEINEKEN Malaysia, Roland Bala, emphasised the importance of sharing joy and giving back during the festive season. “Through our collaboration with Sokong by Malaysiakini, HEINEKEN Cares 2023 aims to amplify the work of our partner NGOs and social enterprises to create a positive impact for communities in need,” said Bala.

The initiative aligns with HEINEKEN’s sustainability strategy, “Brew A Better World,” emphasizing the company’s commitment to driving positive change in communities.

Sokong, serving as the digital platform to facilitate donations to NGOs and social enterprises, will play a pivotal role in educating the public about the projects and facilitating contributions.

The collaboration aims to channel funds to six community projects across Malaysia, focusing on areas such as empowering the Orang Asli community, supporting marginalized communities through urban farming, and providing essential supplies to vulnerable groups.

Joanne Yeoh, representing Soroptimist International Region of Malaysia, expressed gratitude for the collaboration, stating, “This year, we aim to amplify our impact and inspire the public to support meaningful projects that will bring genuine positive change to vulnerable sections of society.”

As Malaysians gear up for the festive season, HEINEKEN Malaysia and Sokong encourage the public to join in the spirit of giving.

Every contribution, regardless of size, is viewed as a collective effort to inspire positive change and create a better world for those in need.
