Gyms, Sport Centres Allowed To Reopen From June 15

The government has given permission for gymnasiums, sport centres like badminton courts, archery, bowling, ice rink and other related activity including yoga to be opened.

This comes after RMCO was introduced where more easing for the movement order was introduced, effective June 15 fitness buffs can hit the gym and resume their training after the long 50 day hiatus. However, in order for the centers to allow customers to use their facilities, Senior Security Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri noted that the management must fill the notification form of their intention on MITI’s website and log on to Ministry of Sport website for the guidelines.

Gym goers are also advised to adhere to SOP’s and follow the distance measure in order to stay safe, gyms are required to move their equipment’s and allow bigger space for their customers. For instance those using the treadmill should be three to five metres from each other, and avoid any sports that requires body contact.

On matters relating to team sports like football, hoki, basketball and even karate, the Ministry is still prohibiting such activity as they involve touching each other, organisers are advised not to have plans of any large scale team sports as they are still not permissable.
