Rockstar Games, a division of Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., is poised to make an eagerly anticipated announcement regarding the next installment of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) as early as this week, according to sources familiar with the company’s plans. 

According to Bloomberg News, as part of the celebration of Rockstar’s 25th anniversary, the company intends to release a trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI next month, the sources stated. They preferred to remain anonymous as they were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter, and a representative from Rockstar did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

Grand Theft Auto VI is one of the most eagerly awaited video game releases, generating tremendous excitement among fans and investors. Its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto V, has achieved sales exceeding 185 million copies, establishing itself as the second-best selling video game in history, following Minecraft, which benefited from its availability on mobile phones as well.

Rockstar Games has taken steps in recent years to address concerns about its corporate culture and work-life balance, following complaints of employee burnout during the development of its last title, Red Dead Redemption 2, released in 2018.

The announcement and release of a Grand Theft Auto VI teaser were previously disrupted by a “network intrusion,” as Rockstar cited, and noted that the introduction of the game would occur when it is ready. 

Earlier this year, two teenagers from the UK were convicted in a London criminal trial related to the hack.

Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be set in a fictional representation of Miami and features two protagonists, a male and a female, as reported by Bloomberg News.

Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. is scheduled to report its earnings on Wednesday.
