Grab has deployed Red Hat Ansible Tower to better handle the growing demand for its services.
Red Hat Ansible Tower is an enterprise IT automation engine that helps reduce complexities of modern IT environments with automation capabilities, helping improve productivity. By deploying Red Hat Ansible Tower, Grab eliminated 40% of its downtime and increased its aggregate up-time to 99.99%.
Red Hat’s solution also enabled Grab to gain greater infrastructure scalability and stability, as well as simplified management for its growing engineering team. Over the last year, Grab has used its new IT environment to introduce many innovative services and in just two months, the company was also able to automate all the backend systems supporting its services.
Since inception in 2012, the organisation has grown rapidly, and now manages more than 3.5 million journeys each day. Along with frequent roll-out of new application features, Grab’s systems have grown by approximately 300 times their initial size in the last three years, with app downloads increasing more than 300% year-over-year. Multiple cities are added to its services every week and its ride business has more than doubled. Despite its rapid initial growth, Grab plans to accelerate its expansion, with a goal of becoming Southeast Asia’s premier consumer transport and payment web-based platform.
