The Internet of Things (IoT) began as a buzzword but has now gotten so big hackers have begun to use their collective power to conduct illegal operations. Many companies have been putting out operating systems (OS) over the past few months, hoping to gain a large marketplace early and become the dominant force in the industry.

For Google, what started off as Project Brillo has now evolved into their very own IoT OS, which they’ve aptly named Android Things. They’ve released Android Things with a Developer Preview, allowing programmers and devs to quickly build smart devices using Android APIs and Google services, whicle staying secure with updates directly from Google.

Feedback from Project Brillo have pushed Google to include tools such as Android Studio, the Android Software Development Kit, Google Play Services and Google Cloud Platform into the mix.
