The world or mostly tech developers hold with bated breath every year around this time to see what Google will announce for its search engine and services. This years annual Google I/O developers conference does offer some evolutionary window to the company’s future direction while some give mix reviews. With more than 3 billion people online today, the stakes are high in the internet business more so with competition like facebook have adapted well in the mobile era. Sundar Pitchai CEO Google attests that “In a world in which the mobile phone has become the remote control for our daily lives, Google’s mission “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful” is truer and more important than ever before”.

Lets look at some of the product and services Google unveiled at this years conference.  
 Perfect assistant

Thanks to machine learning and artificial intelligence—specifically in areas like natural language processing, voice recognition and translation—has helped make Google speech recognition the most accurate in the world, and that can let users take a picture of a sign in Chinese and see it translated into English.

With progress in these areas accelerating, the Mountain View company has introduced Google assistant. A two way communal product that will allow dialogue between user and machine, it will work across devices and contexts, SIRI or Cortana like it will be able to understand your voice command and assist you in your search and even is purchasing items online. Preview is said to be made available soon.

Voice Activated Home
Google Home is a voice-activated product that brings the Google assistant to any room in your house. It lets you enjoy entertainment, manage everyday tasks, and get answers from Google—all using conversational speech. With a simple voice command, you can ask Google Home to play a song, set a timer for the oven, check your flight, or turn on your lights. It’s designed to fit your home with customizable bases in different colors and materials. Google Home will be released later this year.

Smart Messaging
Allo is a new messaging app that also comes with the Google assistant, you can interact with it directly in your chats, either one-on-one or with friends. With the app, you can ask for things like your agenda for the day or photos from your last trip. If you’re planning a dinner with friends, you can ask the assistant to suggest restaurants nearby, all in one thread.

Allo includes Smart Reply, which suggests responses to messages based on context, and comes with fun ways to make your chats more expressive, including emojis, stickers, and the ability to get creative with photos. There’s also an Incognito mode that provides end-to-end encryption, discreet notifications, and message expiration.

Together Google also introduced Duo, a companion app for one-to-one video calling, which should be taking on Skype, a special feature called Knock Knock gives users a live video of the other caller before answering.

The app is based on phone number, so regardless of whether on Android or iOS it can be used. Both apps will be available in July.

Android Updates
The next iteration of Android is still a mystery, Google could not be naming the OS after candies or sweets and is leaving to fans to come up with suggestions. At the moment called Android N till a suitable name is found, will promise to have better performance for graphics and effects, reduced battery consumption and storage, background downloads of system updates, and streamlined notifications and updated emojis including 72 new ones.

A new mobile VR called Daydream Daydream is being worked, unlike Cardboard this time its a real immersive gadget . Already in talks with Android manufacturers, upcoming phones, will work with the VR viewer and controller. Apps and games like YouTube, Street View, Play Movies, Google Photos and the Play Store will be made available.

Exciting times for Google as competition builds up and as more human move to mobile for their go to device, the usage of Search becomes less apparent, apps and social messaging service are more regularly used.
