Samsung launched the A series in somewhat in an unconventional way, dubbed as an impressive premium smartphone feature stacked with an affordable price tags, the A3, A5 and A7 made their glass and metal presence felt, at the concourse of Sunway Pyramid shopping mall. Coming back to the peculiarity of the introduction, was the 16,000 selfies that can be stored on the phone- made possible with 16GB internal storage and the 32GB given away as gratis. Next was the nomenclature for the range, according to Go Benn Lee, Product Manager for Mobile & IT, the last digit on the name refers to the year released, in this case 2016, you will see this more in other range except for the premium S series. And needless to say a selfie contest was at full blast during the launch.
Finally A Galaxy For The Masses
The A series Galaxy phones first made their debut beginning last year, the fundamental reasoning was to thwart the growing force of China made mobile devices. Offering premium build smartphone, with top of the line specifications that includes Amoled display, Exynos processors and metal and glass body and a very affordable price point, Samsung believed it had hit the sweet spot. This year the brand feeds the phones with even more goodies, higher resolution, better camera, longer lasting battery and more storage. The are three options of the A series with varying screen sizes which include 5.5″ for the A7, 5.2″, for the A5 and 4.7″ for the A3. Not available is the A9 and an A10 phablet with a gigantic screen size of 10″, no indication of if or when they will come.
“At Samsung, we are committed to continued innovation, inspired by the feedback and needs of our wide range of consumers. Hence with the introduction of the Galaxy A Series (2016), we made synchronised thoughtful and impactful improvements – offering consumers a seamless convergence of style and performance for their everyday lifestyles,” said Mr Lee Jui Siang, Vice President, IT & Mobile Business Unit, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.
Proud for their design elements, no shortcuts were taken on the mid-range phones, combining metal and glass the phones do not any one time feel less inferior. Feel and weight is balanced, even the A3- smallest in the family is not short changed of features. Full metal bezel at 2.7mm manages to hide the increased battery power these phones carry, the A7 offers 3300mAH which quite decent.
All three variants come equipped with an enhanced camera system for both brighter and clearer photos and videos. This advanced system includes Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) on the front camera to prevent image blurring, as well as a front and rear F1.9 lens to allow users to take the optimum photos in low light conditions. Additionally, the smartphone is also equipped with a Quick Launch feature – double clicking the home button launches the camera in less than a second. Selfie fanatics can shoot away as they like, thanks to the expandable SD slot returned acrimoniously back into the phones after last year declaring them as not required in these day and age of cloud.
Eating back the words, the A series now comes with a built-in memory of 16GB and a microSD slot that can add up to 128GB of external memory. And to cheer loyal consumers up, free 32GB microSD will be given away with every unit of the A series is sold, which according to Samsung allows to you to store up to 16,000 selfies with the combined storage
