Fujifilm (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. will be organising ‘Shoot. Print. Share’, the largest photo exhibition for the second consecutive year. Expected to showcase 8,000 pieces of artworks at Sunway Pyramid from 29th October to 4th November 2018, the event gives Malaysians the opportunity to try their hands on photography and win prizes worth more than RM100,000.
Themed ‘My Favourite Story’, the ‘Shoot. Print. Share.’ Photo Exhibition invites Malaysians to submit their favourite photos regardless of the subject. In order to participate in the photo exhibition, participants need to print their photos and purchase a photo board from selected Fujifilm collection centres, and later submit the completed photo board (with a written caption to accompany the photo) to the store. They can also submit their entries online. A part of Fujifilm Malaysia’s corporate social responsibility programme, 20% of the total sales of photo boards will be contributed to charity to benefit the less fortunate.
Fumiaki Sato, Managing Director of Fujifilm Malaysia, says the exhibition aims to celebrate and preserve the culture of photography whilst breaking the communication walls and bringing people together.
“We hope to achieve this by creating a space where photographers, experts and novices alike, and the mass public can meet and have a dialogue on photography whilst shining light on the photos‘ unique beauty and charm.This is a good opportunity for every Malaysian to create an emotional storytelling connection through photos. A picture is worth a thousand words, with different photos taken by different individuals with diverse backgrounds, it can tell you unique stories.”
Inspired from ‘PHOTO IS 50,000’ Photo Exhibition, organised by Fujifilm Corporation in Japan for the past 12 years, the exhibition began in 2006 as a 10,000-person photo exhibition. In 2013, it was expanded to a 30,000-person photo exhibition. In 2016, over 40,000 photos were exhibited at 32 venues around Japan and many of the visitors expressed their admiration for the exhibitions. The exhibition was held in Tokyo last year and showcased 50,000 photos.
Open to all Malaysians regardless of age limit, participants can submit their photos taken with Fujifilm or non-Fujifilm cameras as well as other devices.
The grand prize winner will be receiving RM2,000 cash prize, a Fujifilm XT20 camera worth RM4,422 and a Best 111 Photo Book worth RM188. Two first prize winners will each receive RM1,000 cash prize, a Fujifilm XT100 camera worth RM3,288 and a Best 111 Photo Book worth RM188. Three second prize winners will each receive RM500 cash prize, a Fujifilm Instax SQ10 with film worth RM1,297 and a Best 111 Photo Book worth RM188. Meanwhile, five third prize winners will each receive a Fujifilm SP3 with film worth RM892 and a Best 111 Photo Book worth RM188. The ‘111 Best Photos’ will each get a Fujifilm Instax SQ6 worth RM598 plus a Best 111 Photo Book worth RM188.
