Fujifilm Malaysia shows off its new medium format mirrorless camera, the GFX 50S at Lotus Cars Malaysia Showroom, Kuala Lumpur. Adopting a 43.8×32.9mm FUJIFILM G Format medium format CMOS sensor, the camera comes with 51.4 MP.

Along with that, Fujifilm announces 3 Fujinon GF lenses, namely the 63mmF2.8 R WR, 32-64mmF4 R LM WR, and 120mmF4 R LM OIS WR Macro.

The medium format sensor allows for 1.7x the area of full frame sensors, allowing for a higher number of effective pixels, allowing for a clearer, more detailed, colour rich picture, mainly for use in commercial photography.

The camera comes with X Processor Pro – the same image processing engine in the X-Pro2 and X-T2. Weighing in at 1230g (with a standard 63mm F2.8 lens) the magnesium alloy body is light weight compared to the standard DSLRs in the market. The 3.69M-dot organic EL electronic viewfinder can be detachable for flexible operation; while the rear monitor is a 3.2-inch, 2.36M-dot touch panel.

The mount and the lenses are newly designed for this new camera body, in order to take full advantage of the 51.4MP that the sensor can deliver. A C (=Command) Position has been newly added to the aperture ring as well, allowing users to change the aperture using the command dial on the camera’s body. In order to prevent incorrect operation, the A (=Auto) Position and C Position feature a locking button installed on the aperture ring that must be disabled to implement changes.

All the products will be available in March 2017.
