Facebook Tries Out Food Delivery Service

We have used Facebook to find the nearest places to have lunch or seen ads for restaurants offering special menu or even discounts, but how we wished we could just click on the screen have the food delivered…soon we can!

Facebook is launching (in the US) a feature that will allow users to order food for pick-up or delivery, directly on from its page, the social network giant is working food ordering services like EatStreet, Delivery.com, DoorDash, ChowNow and Olo, as well as restaurants like Jack in the Box, Five Guys, Papa John’s, and Panera, that will provide delivery services when users make an order over Facebook.

A new Order Food section in the Explore menu was created for this purpose, on this page users can browse food options and select Start Order when they’ve found the items they want to order. Account is set with the providers directly and not Facebook, so payment will be deducted by the various restaurant as the order is placed. This would mean you will have to have multiple accounts, which will be cumbersome.
