Facebook newsfeed videos will now play sound automatically. Sounds for videos on the newsfeed will fade in and out as users scroll through, whereas previously the videos were silent. The automatic sound feature can be disabled in settings.
Ok now the panic is over, a blog post by Facebook Product Manager, Dana Sittler and Engineering Manager Alex Li also detailed updates including bringing videos to your TV, as well as the ability to watch videos and scroll through newsfeed simultaneously.
The popular social media giant will be rolling out a TV application for Facebook videos on various TV platforms.
At current moment, users are only able to stream videos from Facebook to their TVs. In the blog post, they wrote “With the app, you can watch videos shared by friends or Pages you follow, top live videos from around the world, and recommended videos based on your interests. You can also catch up on videos you’ve saved to watch later, as well as revisit videos you’ve watched, shared or uploaded.”
The application will initially be available on Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Samsung Smart TV, with other platforms to follow on a later date.
Users can also now watch a video at the same time while scrolling through News Feed. You can minimize the video by dragging the video to any corner of the screen, to a picture-in-picture view that keeps playing while you browse News Feed. On Android devices, you can keep the video playing even after exiting Facebook app to do something else on your phone.
