Epson is releasing their new line of 4K Home Cinema Projectors. The two models include the EH-TW7400 and the EH-TW9400. The projectors have 4K PRO-UHD and High Dynamic Range (HDR) support for Home Cinema use. Comparatively Epson’s Cinema Projectors use 3LCD technology which allows for a higher brightness and colour output. The EH-TW9400 actually has a 1,200,000:1 high dynamic contrast ratio. The HDR support allows for higher range of colour and detail regardless of if in a bright or dark lit room.
The EH-TW7400 is the lower end version of the two and doesn’t have Hybrid Log Gamma and 4K/60p HDR. The 7400 version also has 200,000:1 high contrast ratio. Something that was quite interesting that I didn’t know about modern projectors was they were WiFi and Chromecast compatible. This does seem like it’ll be convenient to stream directly from the projector without having to connect a laptop or other media device.
I got to see the projectors in person and the details really popped on screen. With the ability to adjust exactly how ratio and resolutions with the remote really made a difference. With the HDR on you could see almost too much detail. Epson advised to maybe keep it in a more neutral setting, depending on your preference.
The EH-TW7400 is priced at RM 9800 and the EH-TW9400 will be at a whopping RM 14,919 and will be available in the market mid-April at authorized retailers.
