Epson EcoTank Inkjet Just As Good As Lasers

Traditionally laser printers have been the choice for most businesses supposedly for their speed and the high quality prints they produce. However, Epson has proved that that’s not always the case. Their latest introduction of an army of EcoTank Monochrome series of inkjet printers go head-to-head with some of the best performing laser printers on the market.

Busting the myth of laser being superior than inkjet, Epson launched three new EcoTank Monochrome printers – M1100, M1120 and M2140 that are just as good or better than lasers. These printers are capable of printing 39 pages per minute (ppm). In case you are wondering, most laser printers print at a slower rate compared to these inkjet printers. The print quality of these EcoTank Monochrome printers is close to what a laser printer can print. Using only a single bottle of ink, the new EcoTank Monochrome printers can print up to 6000 pages and consuming 24 times lower power consumption. This in turn brings down the overall cost per print to 28 times compare to laser printers on the market.

The M1100 and M1120 share the same design cue and have almost similar functionalities. This series of printers can only print monochrome pages with a maximum resolution of 1440 x 720 dots per inch (dpi). These printers can print pages at a rate of 32 ppm. The M1120 is different from the M1100 in terms of wireless printing capability with the former having built in WiFi for printing over the network, cloud printing via Epson Connect or WiFi direct.

Epson’ s EcoTank Monochrome flagship printer is the M2140 with a much bigger and beefier looks as opposed to its other two siblings. The flagship printer can print, scan and copy. It also has a much higher print quality than its siblings, printing at a maximum resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi using Epson’s PrecisionCore printhead instead of the on-demand inkjet found on the other two printers. The M2140 can print pages up to 39ppm and automatically prints both side of the pages.

In addition to that, the flagship EcoTank Monochrome printer can copy pages up to 17 images per minute (ipm) at a maximum resolution of 600 x 600 dpi and a maximum copy size of A4 or letter. Besides printing and copying, it can scan pages at a resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi and supports full colour image scanning.  Since it is a much bigger printer compared to the M1100 and M1120 printers, it has two paper trays which can hold up to 250 sheets of papers and an output capacity of up to 100 sheets. Although the M2140 has a 1.44 inch LCD screen, it lacks the wireless connectivity which the M1120 has.

It may seem absurd to compare a laser printer to an inkjet printer because of the different technology inside these printers. But technology only serves to deliver the best results for the customer, if one can offer what is needed at a much better cost of ownership, then the question will be why not! The EcoTank Monochrome series printers are not short of innovation, performance and quality prints and delivering results just as good or better than lasers. To know more head click here.
