In what seems to be news out of nowhere, EA and Valve have announced a partnership. What this means is that they’ll be bringing over their library of EA games to Steam, as well as EA Access, their games subscription service. If you were unfamiliar, EA Access is EA’s subscription service, where you’ll be able to play the games in their collection as much as you want, be early to try games, 10% discounts for digital copies of games, and more.

So bringing it over to Steam, the largest marketplace for PC gaming, is quite a bit deal.

The partnership will start with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which launches on November 15th, and is now available for pre-order. In the next few months, they’ll be bringing over other titles like The Sims 4 a d Unravel Two. But that’s not all folks, because multiplayer games, like Apex Legends, FIFA 20, Battlefield V will become available next year on Steam, and players on both Origin, EA’s game marketplace, and Steam users will be able to play together.

So overall, it’s a pretty good deal for fans of both EA and Steam. It just means more games, and more ways to play, and isn’t that all what’s gaming about? Well that’s what we thought anyway. But not everyone is ecsatic about the partnership.

Okay admittedly, I understand people’s frustrations over having two game marketplaces, and the segmentation. It’s just not a great way of doing things, so they’re probably wanting to fully move over to Steam, and Steam only. But let’s see how it goes, because they haven’t mentioned whether users will still need the Origin launcher on their PCs. Well hopefully not, because it’d make PC gaming all the more smoother.
