Microsoft has plans to create a more affordable console for the Xbox One family. The disc-less console would be able to play regular Xbox One games despite not having a Blu Ray drive. Prices would be lower than the entry-level Xbox One S which starts at $299 and the disc-less Xbox One could start lower at $199.

For those of you who have a collection of physical games with your existing Xbox console, fret not, because Microsoft have considered it. With their plan, Microsoft tends to implement a ‘disc-to-digital’ program for their users who already own physical games in the form of discs.

Users who already have an Xbox One and physical games could trade discs for digital download codes from official retailers, in hopes that this new Xbox comes with a big hard drive to accommodate those who have slow internet connections which is really convenient and somewhat revolutionary. In short, Microsoft is serious in making future games more accessible and perhaps affordable for their users.

Microsoft also has a revised Xbox One S SKU to debut later this year which focuses mainly on cost reduction. However, it does feature a disc-drive for users who still prefer the traditional way to play games.

Simultaneously, Microsoft remains to carry on their plans but carefully with the mentioned product, as a huge majority of their users still prefer to buy physical games. The console is expected to become available sometime next year, however it is still yet to be confirmed as there are no confirmation from Microsoft at the moment.
