Ding Ding another mobile phone brand from smartphone manufacturing hub of the world, Shenzen…has announced a spectacular introduction of whats its dubbing as “naked eye 3D smartphone” basically you can watch 3D movies of videos without the use of 3D glasses.

Using special layered screens, Ding Ding Guide S1 (local launch name) was showcased at an event in Italy last month, allows the effects to be reproduced effectively on the small screen. No doubt there has been no attempt by any other mainstream phone makers to stray into the 3D imaging (more of novelty than anything else) but the idea could unlock future potential for such technology.

Viewing 3D videos without the use of glasses has been dabbled around by TV makers but makes the effort complicated when screens get larger, the technology does not allow when angles get bigger. The 5 inch of a smartphone is a perfect dimension for 3D, with more contents and Virtual Reality taking centre stage, this might become the next step for smartphone makers. Kudos to Ding Ding to boldly go into this territory and keep the price point low.
