Mobile game company Com2uS announced that development is underway for Summoners War to be released as an MMORPG, scheduled for the first half of 2018.
The South Korean company combined several factors of the game, including the worldview, to develop Summoners War MMORPG in accordance to the characteristics of the MMORPG genre. Attributing the global success of Summoners war to the strategic gameplay, Com2uS said that they will be focusing on that for the development of their MORPG version.
Currently, Summoners War is recognized as one of the top mobile games developed in Korea, ranking in top 3 for sales in 100 countries. Summoners War has also been ranked No. 1 in RPG games for sales in 98 countries on the App Store and in 95 countries on Google Play. The game has an accumulated sales reaching almost 100 billion dollars.
With the development of Summoners War MMORPG, Com2uS plans to make it to the top in the global MMORPG market. In a release, Com2uS said, “The release of Summoners War MMORPG means a new revenue source through IP expansion. This will hopefully strengthen and expand the Summoners War IP even more.”
In an effort to expand their business and strengthen the brand worldwide, Com2uS has created a new “IP Strategy Team” that will be in charge of global IP and licensing. They plan to expand the IP of Summoners War to cartoons, animation, novels, movies, and various merchandising.
