Sometime late last year we received a plethora of gadgets and accessories from Dell including Power banks that came with a Hybrid Power adapter. As we’ve never gotten anything like this except for PC’s and monitors, the power banks got everyone in the office psyched. A handy device for those using their notebooks and need longer usage time, the power bank are useful especially with their high mAH. Rather short lived, the PC maker now has to recall some of the version sold due to potential safety risk.
US Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall order to Dell Hybrid Power Adapter with Power Banks due to shock hazard. Dangers listed includes, the hybrid power adapter casing can break and detach, exposing the internal metal components, posing an electric shock hazard. The site reports over 9000 units are affected and will have to replaced immediately. These were mainly manufactured between January 2017 and March 2017 and were mostly sold on Amazon or Dell online.
Dell is offering free replacements for those who bought the units and continues to sell later variants. Not many were aware of the availability of such accessories and we wont find them here at least, Dell Malaysia is believed to be looking for dealers to retail its range of power banks, adapters and USB adapter dubbed the puck.
