The Civil Department of Aviation or DCA has issued an official release with regards to the prohibition of using, carrying, or checking in any Galaxy Note7 smartphone into any flights.

Its Director General, Datuk Seri Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said that the onus is on airline operators to ensure the devices are not transported by any person into cabins, checked in baggage and even carry- ons. And in any case if found, they will be advised to turn it off and protect it from accidental activation. All apps that could potentially turn the device on should also be disabled.

This latest announcement comes after FAA and airlines across the world had issued statements with regards to exploding Note7’s which has been wildly reported in countries the phone was launched. In Malaysia, although the plus size smartphone has yet to be officially launched, customers who preordered had received their units and have been informed by Samsung Malaysia to return the products for a full refund or alternatively opt for a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge.
