For those who have made a hobby out of flying drones or even as an enterprise, the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) has new set of regulations for this unmanned aerial vehicles.
After releasing a statement that all drones require approval from the DCA to be flown, the agency has now cleared the air that only drones weighing less than 20 kg can fly without the need of a permit. However all drones are still restricted from certain zones like airports, military location which are identified as Class A, B, C and G. Head honcho at the agency is mulling on setting up an enforcement unit that will check on UAV’s and have the owners register them.
Hobby drones like the Mavic or Phantom do not fall under the restriction but for those planning to go mainstream in offering delivery or commercial purpose will need to reconsider and engage with DCA before embarking.
