As we are very well aware, yesterday there was an announcement made by our Prime Minister, Muhyiddin Yassin regarding the Special Assistance Package. The announcement was made due to the implementation of MCO for the second time for few states in Malaysia because of the sudden surge of cases.
The package by the name of Pakej Bantuan Perlindungan Ekonomi dan Rakyat Malaysia (PERMAI), consist of 22 endeavors is worth of RM 15 billion.
Firstly, the Pelan Jana Semula Ekonomi Negara (PENJANA) which was announced during the MCO last year has provided free 1GB data for prepaid users. The good thing is, the free data still can be obtained until the end of April 2021 with this stimulus package. The free data which was supposed to end by March will have an extension of one month.
Next, it is obviously that every alma mater is closed for any physical learning process. Online distance learning is the only choice we have and it has been testing students mentally and emotionally. Hence, just like the prior notes, the special data package will be offered until the end of April too.
This time around, university students are not neglected. The data package is now also offered for university students, other than SPM and STPM students. The 5 telcos, Celcom, Digi, Maxis, U Mobile and Telekom Malaysia are offering 15GB of data for RM20/month to eligible students.
Previously, the package was only for those who were born around 2001 to 2004 and hopefully with the announcement made yesterday, the age limit will be broadened so it will suit more for college and university students.
So far, these are the good news that are beneficial for those who are using Internet for most of daily usage. Hopefully this announcement will give us a sigh of relief as MCO is not going to be a pleasant phase to go through. Together us we flatten the curve by stay at home and enjoy the free data granted for us.
